The National Sojourners is an organization of Master Masons in good standing who have served, or are serving as Commission Officers, Warrant Officers or Non-Commissioned Officers in the military services of the United States.

The purposes of the National Sojourners is to promote Masonic ideals, fellowship among its members, Patriotism in Masonic activities and throughout the Nation, and to assist members and members of the military who may be overtaken by adversity or afflictions.

A current project of our chapter is to support and assist the wounded of current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.  To this end, special activities and assistance are planned to support the wounded now recovering at Walter Reed Hospital.

MEREDITH CHAPTER OF ROSE CROIX
By: Hon. Robert W. Chase, 32°, KCCH – Wise Master

As I close my term as Wise Master of Meredith Chapter Rose Croix I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who have, along the way, made my experience with the Scottish Rite one that gives me great joy.  As I mentioned in one of the other articles this joy comes from the very first time I stepped foot inside this beautiful Temple we call home to being allowed the opportunity to serve this chapter to all of the degree work I have been allowed to do.

To the current officers, I again thank you for your support and dedication and wish all of you nothing but great success in the future.  We all hear repeatedly how we belong to the greatest fraternity in the world and I hope I have the opportunity to continue the work I do in it.

Thank you again and may the peace of God, which passeth all understanding be and remain with you always.

MARYLAND COUNCIL OF KADOSH
By: Ill. Howard R. Hamilton, 33° - Commander

I hope every brother has been enjoying the blessing of beautiful fall colors and cooler weather.  This change in the season calls forth a renewed and ongoing commitment to our good work.

We live in an age which is witnessing a “breakdown of morality” because so many tell us that morality is merely a collection of outdated customs and rules we have inherited from our ignorant ancestors, and that there are no absolute rules of conduct.  Never has the need for clear thinking been greater than at the present moment.  The convalescence and recovery of a nation after an economic convulsion is slow and the reconstruction has inherent dangers.  We must be patient and keep vigilant.

What can we do?  The Scottish Rite Masons of this country with independent and moral reasoning can help considerably.  We can demonstrate sound reasoning, sanity of thought, patriotism and justice, and always good citizenship.  To do less would be false to oneself and our great Masonic Fraternity.

Keep in mind this quote from Theodore Hesburgh, “My basic principle is that you don’t make decisions because they are easy, you don’t make them because they are cheap or popular, you make them because they are right.”
